Abah

Dreamt of Abah the week he returned to RahmatulLah in the blessed month of Ramadhan, alhamdulilLah.

In light of Covid-19, the male family members (less than 10 pax) laid him to rest. I will continue to pray that Allah SWT elevate Abah's status and may he be gathered with amongst the pious predecessors, aamiin yaa Ar-Hamar-Rahimeen.

The wise said when one parent leaves us, one door of barakah closes its door behind us.

The only regret I have was not being able to be of service to him while he was still alive (nothing I did would be enough to repay Abah for all that he has done, regardless).

Uncle Zol advised, "Just remember him when he was at his happiest with you and continue to pray for him", insya-Allah.

Abah's gregorian birthday would have been 7 June while his hijriyyah birthday was the same day in Rejab as mine. You'll be a constant in my prayer, Abah...❤

"Moments - There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you want to pick them from your dreams and hug them. And there are moments when love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear."

Beautiful Return

AlhamdulilLah! Siti Esah Bte Surip, at the age of 84, had attained her peace (returned to RahmatulLah) on the blessed Monday (just like almarhum grandpa), 16 Muharram 1441H (16 September 2019), after Duha.

I am relieved to have spent quality time in service to her during her last days to bear witness to signs of her final departure and learnt much from it. Allahu Akbar! I reflected on Habib's advice - that when Allah swt is pleased with His servant, He will protect him/her from harm, facilitate his/her return to Him in a pure state, with a good ending (husnul khatimah). So true, subhana-Allah!

Her passing reinforced yet again that death is not something to be sad about as the heartbroken returns to The Beloved. For the Mu'min, it is a moment anticipated for the longest time. And I am constantly reminded of her many legacies (she would have wanted that) - her relentless devotion to her husband (I am convinced that before his passing, grandpa would have been pleased with her and so enter grandma through any door of Jannah that pleases her), her concern, love and care for her children and grandchildren, her istiqomah in Tahajjud and love for Quran recital (just like grandpa), her strictness in preserving purity (Thaharah), her hospitality to her neighbours, friends, students, her generosity in charity (for madrasah/mosque building, religious education of the young, etc.) - too many to mention here.

Nyai, thank you for being a beautiful role model to me. I am missing you already. As I kissed you for the last time, I am convinced that you are amongst those Allah swt mentioned in QS al-Fajr verse 27-30: "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: enter then, together with My [other true] servants yea, enter thou My paradise". You'll be a constant in my supplications and in my heart ❤

Redha

The recent events brought home the point that redha is a two-way street (رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُوۡا عَنۡهُ). A wise man once encouraged the memorization of a beautiful Surah, which I have come to appreciate. And a close confidant seeks the supplications for angels accompanying the eternal life - brilliant request for coming to terms with the maqsud of this life truly is to seek mardhatillah ❤.

Qarib

The past few weeks were a test (life is always a test!) not to succumb to- and be overwhelmed with- emotions. Wise advice and reminder from afar kept near, concerns and supplications cherished, an everlasting handhold, a ni'mah walhamdulilLah. La tahzan Allah ma'ana ❤

Eyvallah

"Every parting is a form of death, as every reunion is a type of heaven. No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other's worth."

Once in awhile, you opened up and had a heartwarming chat with the most unsuspecting person as though you have known the kind soul for ages even if you have just met the person. And it made you wonder - was that a moment? Nah! Hmm, maybe... just maybe wa-Allahu 'alam. Whatever, whoever, whenever, always make a mental note that all has been pre-destined, you are the mere actor in the larger scheme of playwright by the One walhamdulilLah ❤

Obrigada

Most beautiful poetry. Most meaningful love. Affection alive. Heart's rhythm eternal. Revived by Thy Grace. Soul instinctive. Faith resolved. Mind's eye anchored. Learning journey towards Love Supreme. Even if I lose my self in the midst. Restlessness annihilated. Conclusion to life's purpose = MardhatilLah. AlhamdulilLah ❤

Bait yang terindah. Cinta yang bermakna. Kasih yang bernyawa. Irama hati selamanya. Nafas menghidupkan. Jiwa menggetarkan. Iman mengikatku. Kalbu mengunciku. Membawaku mengenali erti cinta agung. Andainya aku hilang jiwa. Segala rasa resah musnah. Penutup maksud hayat hidup = MardhatilLah. AlhamdulilLah ❤

Mystery of Wonderment

Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. So enjoy and indulge in the sweetness of every bite. Analogous to that, the mystery of life - how Muslims believe in Allah's decree and predetermination (how can we not - we do not even know what our next meal will be!). A beautiful reminder to savour each moment and be grateful, anticipating the lingering sweet aftertaste to come (Allah's wisdom unfolding at every turn of events). AlhamdulilLah ❤

Buddy

Was on the way home and the song from Z Slam came on air. I was instinctively reminded that a few days ago, you celebrated your birthday. Happy birthday, buddy! May you be blessed with all good things in life and remain perpetually contented and happy with all that you have. You will always be a constant in my prayer. For I will never forget our kind of friendship - so near yet so far. You have been missed ❤

Rabitah

AlhamdulilLah! Time and again, revisiting lessons taught, refining one's understanding and grateful with Allah SWT for the ni'mah of a true guide whose heart is in the right place and intentions pure. The whole ocean is in a single drop; if only you knew the value of that drop, it would be sufficient for you (true indeed!). The proof (of gratitude)? Obedience, manifestation, service, always pointing back to the reference point. And when the time calls for it, stand up for truth... always ❤.

Mabruk!

Masya-Allah! The dots are finally connected and what wonderful news. Beloved Niizeeeee, uhibbuki filLah! For you and your future spouse, barakalLahu lakuma wa barakah 'alaykuma wa jama'ah bainakuma fi khayr sakinah mawaddah wa rahmah, aamiin ya Ar-Hamar-Rahimeen (161118) ❤

Unbearable

There was a tug at my heartstrings when I read the message (more of a reminder): "It is the person, not the gifts (that matters)" a.k.a you've been missed too. If only they knew that after so long, I still could not bring myself to walk through those doors. Rabbi inni maghlubun fantaswir

It is true they say - some people have passed away but their character has kept them alive. Others are alive but their character has killed them. Allahu Allah! I can't help reflect on the story of Bilal which I recalled reading from the book gifted to me by another of my beloved teachers (From the Story of the Reed by Sufi scholar, Osman Nuri Topbas 2005 pp 120-121):

"When the Messenger of Allah passed away, it was as if Bilal had lost his voice, unable to speak. He could not stay in Medina any longer. Abu Bakr the Caliph pleaded with him to call the prayer once more, but Bilal's answer was: 'Ya Abu Bakr! Ask me what I wish, for I do not have the strength to call the prayer after the death of the Messenger of Allah. Do not force me. Please let me be...'
But Abu Bakr wanted to hear once more the beautiful athan which rung out in the days of old; he continued pleading with Bilal finally saying, 'After being deprived of their Messenger, should the nation be deprived of the Messenger's muezzin too?' Bilal finally gave in and went up the minaret, trying his utmost to hold back his tears, in order to make the call for the morning prayer. He could not contain himself, however, and began to weep. Bilal, unable to bring himself to make the call, in spite of all efforts, was pressed no further by Abu Bakr in this regard.
Bilal could not stay in Medina any longer and the same morning he immediately left for the city of Damascus. He participated in battles on the frontiers so that he would become a martyr and be with the Messenger of Allah; but as a matter of Divine predestination, he returned alive after each battle. Years passed in such a state.
One night, he saw the Messenger in his dream. The Messenger said to him, "Ya Bilal! What is this pain? Is it not time for you to visit me?' Bilal woke up in haste and immediately set off into the desert on his camel. After traveling for many days, he at last reached the radiant city of Medina. He ran straight to the grave of the Prophet before anyone could catch sight of him, and collapsed on the grave upon reaching it. As he put his head on the grave he started to cry and said, 'I have come, O Messenger, I have come!'
Just at that moment, the Prophet's grandsons Hasan and Hussayn came. Seeing them, Bilal rose and embraced them tightly saying, 'O the lights of the Prophet's eyes!' Hasan said, 'Bilal, I would like to ask you something, but will you do it for me?' Bilal responded, 'Tell me, my dear child, tell me!' Hasan said, 'We long to hear you make the athan as you once did for the Prophet at his masjid. We would like to hear it, will you make it?' 'I will make it for you,' replied Bilal.
At noon, Bilal went up to the place where he used to make the call to prayer in the masjid of the Prophet. He began to shout 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar!' in such a way that all of Medina shook associating this sound with the Messenger of Allah. The mountains and rocks wailed with this deep cry. When Bilal reached 'Ashhadu an la ilaha ilallah' the whole city trembled and with 'Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah!' everyone poured out onto the streets. People were asking each other if the Messenger had returned to the world; people were crying, wailing...Bilal was trying not to choke on his tears in order to complete the call. But it was not possible... He could not contain himself..."

Insaan

Recent turn of events strengthened my conviction to put my trust in Allah SWT and take lessons from the inspired life of RasululLah SAW - to lament to Allah SWT in times of need, to let go, forgive and forget, to continue supporting the right causes, seeking nearness to Him and His redha. Rabbi Yassir wala tu'assir. Rabbi tamim bil khayr, aamiin ya Allah, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem ❤

Constellation

Transient

Rejab beckons soon and I am leaving the past behind. True to form, I can't help reflect on all that has happened for the past months and felt deep gratitude to Allah swt for signs shown and lessons learnt walhamdulilLah! Such ni'mah to have whom you truly need to set your path aright walhamdulilLah tsumma alhamdulilLah. To you (you know who you are), barakalLah feek for the early birthday wish (masya-Allah, you remembered!) and beautiful supplications (back at you) ❤

The Return

On 22 Feb 2018, I received a text message from a dear friend at around 9 pm - her mum has returned to the Lord, inna lilLahi wa inna ilaihi roji-un. As I pondered my friend's state of loss due to the sudden departure of her 'world', I could not help celebrate her mum's success - returning to Allah s.w.t. in a pure state (qalbun saleem) - based on what my friend described of her mum's state before her final rest at Pusara Aman. It saddened me that I could not be there for my dear friend (due to the condition that I was in); my love, prayers, and thoughts are with her in her time of need.

Dear Fadz, take the time to grieve to get your closure as a family. Also, take comfort that you have done your best in terms of khidmat to your mum. I strongly believe that she redha with you. And her redha is Allah's redha, subhaana-Allah walhamdulilLah ❤

Naila

On Tuesday 6 Feb 2018 (20 Jamadilawal 1439H), sweet Naila came into this world. May she grow up to be amongst the successful ones, whom will make her parents proud. And may she attain Allah's redha and be included amongst the Ummah of RasululLah s.a.w. aamiin ya Allah ya Ar-Hamar-Rahimeen... أحبك في الله ... ❤

Safe in Silence

RasululLah SAW said, "Speak good or remain silent", because "Whoever is silent, he is saved". Sayyidina Ali RA said, "Speak only when your words are more beautiful than your silence" and "The cause of safety is silence"; when you have dropped hints but they went on deaf ears, then it is a clear sign to take your leave.

I am instinctively reminded of the words of Rumi, "Listen to silence, it has so much to say" and that of Sayyidina Ali RA, "Surely silence can sometimes be the most eloquent reply". Let silence be the art you practice, khayr insya-Allah!

AlhamdulilLah, I am at peace knowing that my heart is in the right place - Ummi is the 'heart' that keeps me alive and Jannah lies under her feet so life is ok as long as I see Ummi's smile - her redha is Allah's redha... Ya Ummi, to the world you are just a mother, but to me you are my world :)

MardhatilLah

In recent weeks, I was instinctively reminded of this - "Stay with your mother, for Paradise is under her feet" - Sunan An-Nasa'i. Never underestimate the God-given firasat of a mother. Many youths today do not seek counsel from their mothers thinking that "they do not know anything". If only they knew the barakah of doing so, for Redha Ummi Redha Allah. Wa-Allahu a'lam.
